Exploring Ontario: Discoveries in and around Brantford

Searching for an interesting weekend getaway, I have been studying a map of Ontario, looking for places that are just an hour or two outside of Toronto. One place that jumped out at me was Brantford, a community of around 90000 residents about 110 kilometres west of Toronto So a few weeks ago I contacted Brantford Tourism to find out more about this city and they sent me an entire information package about the local attractions and activities. On October 9, 2009 I set off with a friend on a two-day first-hand discovery of Brantford to see for myself what this city has to offer. Finally around 2:30 pm we arrived in Brantford and stopped off at the modern tourism information office, just off Highway 403. We were meeting Melissa Stephens, our local tourism expert, who was going to show us around her home town. On this rainy afternoon we made a stop at the Glenhyrst Gallery of Brant, a public, non-profit art gallery housed in a striking historic mansion surrounded by extensive manicured grounds that house a sculpture garden. Karen Bell, the gallerys educational coordinator, showed us around the property which was featuring an exhibition by local artist David Hind. This artist uses reclaimed material such as coloured aluminum siding to create oversized canvases using coloured aluminum pieces that are cut out and pasted or riveted onto canvas. ACCF Halloween ♀ Her Town

Animal Crossing City Folk for the Wii, experiencing Halloween with CHINAMANZ B in my Town, to include a clip of CHINAMANZ D's home. I used TT (Time Travel) to set the date back to collect candies which is sold one per day at Nookington's in the month of October. Halloween is on October 31st with Trick or Treating starting at 6 pm The object is to find Jack, he is the one that doesn't approach you and will give you a piece of the Spooky set of furniture in exchange for candy, which are the treats. The tricks are to turn your clothing into mold, your head into a pumpkin and items in your pocket into Jack in the Boxes if you don't have candy to share. It's best to keep everything in your mail and just keep one piece of candy in your pocket. Thank you, B for playing with me - it was HILARIOUS and I kept cracking up! It was too funny trying to find Jack while avoiding the Trick or Treaters. After all the candy was gone, I ended up with four pieces of furniture and over a dozen Jack in the Boxes, lol. So thank you very much for the Spooky set of furniture and for another great time.

What you wear, say, or do can definitely say a lot about you. Furniture, in a similar manner, has the ability to define its owner. Style, color, size, and even arrangement of furniture within the home are all elements that contribute to this method of personal statement. Selecting home furnishings becomes even more important when considering such issues, as each piece will communicate a very specific message.

Take bedroom furniture as an example. While owning a comfortable bed is arguably the single most important priority, one must consider the appearance and aesthetic sensibility of the bed as well. Most people approach the style element from the subjective standpoint of whether or not they are pleased by the look of the bed. This is to be expected, and is in no way an incorrect or ill-advised attitude. After all, everyone wants furniture with which they feel happy and comfortable. Things to consider, though, are the statements the furniture can make. A large canopy bed, for example, may appear imposing or give off an air of formality. This, in turn, may suggest that the owner is a more serious-minded individual. A simple platform bed, on the other hand, may suggest the owner is uninterested in ornamented possessions and prefers a mood of tranquility. Characteristics such as introversion and extroversion may be implied with choice in furniture.

This psychology of furniture may be extended to all parts of the home. A living room is one of the most important rooms to consider, as it is the one most readily visible to guests. Living room furniture such as sofas and coffee tables must not only be functional but true to the owner's personality. An outspoken, ambitious individual may prefer furniture that is more decorative and likely to call attention to itself. An introverted, more philosophic individual may prefer understated furniture with comfort or price as its main feature.
